Just two months into 2025, the state of global disarray has become even more fraught, not least as the Trump administration 'floods the zone' with initiatives that variously are of substantive and performative significance. These include the imposition of tariffs resulting in China, for one, filing a complaint against the US with the World Trade Organization.
At this time of profound unease and interstate tension, AIIA Tasmania is pleased to announce that China's Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Xiao Qian, has accepted our invitation to speak at this in-person event in Hobart. Registration to attend is for MEMBERS ONLY (plus AIIA-invited guests) in association with the University of Tasmania.
Xiao Qian will speak about China-Australia relations and China-Tasmania exchanges with international circumstances providing context. He will participate in a short Q&A session that may encompass not just bilateral issues but also potentially international or regional hotspots. A timely and unusual opportunity for Tasmanian members.
